Almost 4,000 hectares of farmland in Western Australia’s Esperance-Goldfields region is now held by Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation. An additional 1,135 hectares has joined its existing Kardutjaanup Farm holdings on Wudjari Country.

The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation announced the milestone on 14 October, following $2.2 million in support for the acquisition. The corporation holds and manages native title rights on the ancestral lands of Wudjari Nyungar people.
Kardutjaanup is home to the Rejuvenation Trees project, restoring biodiversity through native plants suited to the surrounding bush. Since 2023, ranger teams have planted more than two million seeds and seedlings across the combined holdings, representing around 80 species.
The project is intended to generate a long-term revenue stream through carbon credits while supporting community development and employment on Country. Those future returns form part of the enterprise’s plan; the land acquisition and planting work are the milestones reported now.
Ownership gives this story its foundation. The work connects a productive landholding with cultural authority, ecological restoration and the ability to pursue Wudjari priorities over time. The additional farmland brings more of that landscape within the corporation’s direct care and decision-making.
