About Us

Supporting You!

Nungya Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation is a proudly Indigenous-led, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering communities, strengthening wellbeing, and creating opportunities for healing and growth.

We exist to make a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider Australian community by:

🐾 Assistance Animals Program
We provide training, certification, and ongoing support for assistance animals that help individuals living with physical disabilities, mental health challenges, and other conditions. These animals bring independence, safety, and emotional strength, ensuring that people are never alone in facing life’s challenges.

🛠️ Men’s Shed Initiatives
Our Men’s Sheds are safe, welcoming spaces where men can come together to share skills, connect with others, support mental health, and work on community projects. This initiative strengthens bonds, reduces isolation, and promotes wellbeing for men of all ages.

💙 Our Focus on Men’s Health and Community Wellbeing
At Nungya Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation, we understand the unique challenges faced by men in our communities. Too many men struggle in silence with mental health, isolation, or the pressures of daily life. That’s why we are committed to:

  • Expanding safe spaces like Men’s Sheds where men can talk openly, find purpose, and build friendships.
  • Promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging men to seek support when they need it.
  • Using assistance animals as a vital support tool for individuals who need comfort, companionship, and independence.
  • Creating practical pathways for healthier, more connected lives through programs that combine culture, care, and community.

We are more than a charity—we are a movement for wellbeing, empowerment, and connection.

Why We Do What We Do

Every service we provide is rooted in the belief that healthy men build healthy families, and healthy families build strong communities. By supporting men’s health and providing life-changing assistance animals, we’re helping to create stronger, happier, and more resilient communities for the future.
