Tennant Creek’s Desert Harmony Festival puts the Barkly’s creative life at the centre of a four-day gathering. Its 2026 dates are 31 July to 3 August, with the theme Yarntarnpa Kululu-jju Nyinta — Living Together as One.

Barkly Regional Arts’ festival page, updated on 27 July, explains that the theme recognises the diversity of the people who enrich the region’s cultural life. The program brings together artists working across different musical generations and styles.
The announced line-up includes Emily Wurramara, Frank Yamma, Roger Knox, Kobie Dee, Ray Dimakarri Dixon, Eleanor Jawurlngali and bands from across the region. That breadth gives audiences a way to hear established voices alongside the music being made in community now.
For a regional arts organisation, a festival also gathers the people who usually work across considerable distances. Artists, local audiences and visiting supporters share a program in the same town, making new encounters possible.
The official program remains the best guide to individual sessions and arrangements. This edition highlights the festival’s published plans, rather than claiming to report from the performances.
