October brings a statewide program of events, business stories and buyer connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enterprises in Queensland. Indigenous Business Month runs from 1–31 October, with practical resources and an online webinar series accompanying in-person activities.

The Queensland department’s 1 October announcement reports that 619 Indigenous businesses secured Queensland Government procurement contracts in 2025–26. It places the value of procurement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses at more than $814 million for that financial year.

The published program includes an Indigenous Business Month Expo in Townsville and a buyer event in Brisbane on 21 October, followed by Indigenous Small Business Connect in Cairns on 22 October. These are announced opportunities for the weeks ahead, with registrations and further resources linked from the department’s website.

Business month is also a useful prompt for everyday customers to notice the enterprises around them. The program’s mix of networking and procurement reflects how different a business relationship can be: a local customer finding a new supplier, an owner meeting another entrepreneur, or a larger buyer learning what a regional enterprise can deliver. The connections established during October can continue beyond the month.
