An exhibition’s closing date does not end the practices it introduced. The artists and art centres remain a useful trail to follow after the gallery has changed its walls.

Western Australia’s 17 April announcement for Revealed described a showcase presented by the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of Western Australia. The art market was scheduled for 18 April at WA Museum Boola Bardip, with the exhibition running at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts from 18 April to 14 June.
Curator Zali Morgan, a Whadjuk, Ballardong and Wilman Noongar artist, brought together work by more than one hundred new and emerging Aboriginal artists from across the state. The program connected remote, regional and city audiences through both exhibition and direct encounters at the market.
Those advertised dates have passed. This edition looks back at the announcement and the emerging practices it brought to public attention, rather than suggesting the April market is still open.
For someone building an interest in contemporary art, returning to an exhibition list can be rewarding. Find a name you did not previously know and look for the artist’s own account or their art centre’s information. That creates a more sustained connection than relying on a single annual showcase to tell the whole story of a busy creative community.
