We Are Registered with ORIC

Nungya Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation is proudly registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC).

Our registration under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act) provides us with a strong legal foundation as an Indigenous-led organisation. It also ensures that we are governed according to rules that are designed specifically to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations.

Being registered with ORIC means:

  • Recognition as an Indigenous Corporation – We are formally recognised as a not-for-profit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that operates for the benefit of our members and community.
  • Strong Governance Standards – ORIC oversees our corporation to ensure we maintain proper accountability, financial transparency, and responsible management.
  • Community Accountability – We are bound by our Rule Book, which sets out our objectives, governance structure, and how we deliver services to our community.
  • Legal Protection – Registration under the CATSI Act protects our members and provides a fair framework for how we operate, grow, and deliver our charitable work.
  • Support and Guidance – ORIC provides resources, training, and regulatory support that strengthens our ability to continue serving the community effectively.

Our ORIC registration is not just a formality—it is a statement of who we are. It shows that our organisation is built on a foundation of cultural integrity, accountability, and legal compliance, giving our members, partners, and supporters the confidence that we are working properly, fairly, and transparently for the benefit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
